Welcome Akuma Motorsports

We’d like to welcome Akuma Motorsports to the GT-R community.

From John@Akuma
QUOTE As you may know I have been working with Cobb Tuning for a while now. My experience there has been amazing. From writing the GTR mapping as you guys know...lol... to co-developing the tuning software, it has been a tremendous experience. For that I have to thank Trey and everyone there(especially Chris). I have been very lucky to develop some strong relationships in the industry and because of those relationships I have had the opportunity to move back out to the NJ area and open a new shop!
We will continue to maintain a very strong relationship with Cobb as I will continue to do map development and verification as an extended member of the Cobb Tuning team. We will continue to do the ETunes for Cobb, so you can contact me directly for that as well.
The shop will be privately owned and run. I will have a master mechanic and two techs on staff at the onset. We will also have another tuner in house that all of you know, and I am looking forward to working with! The staff offers years of expertise in the market, this will be the place for all of your needs.
We will have the only load bearing dyno in the area (Mustang) and will be running discount specials all season. The shop will provide everything from custom tuning and fabrication to engine builds and installations. We may be new to the building, but we have been around for years, and look forward to working with all of you!
The new shop is named AKUMA Motorsports and will be located on the corner of Texas Road and Route 9, minutes from Englishtown Raceway(New Jersey). The shop will be open for appointments by July 7, and we will have a grand opening later in the month. We have quite a few appointments booked already, so if you need a tune don't hesitate to PM me for the details.
Keep an eye out for posts for updates and general shop info. I can't wait to see you at the shop or track very soon.
Please take a moment to welcome them aboard!

Cobb AccessPORT for Euro Spec Nissan GT-R Now Available

Cobb AccessPORT for Euro Spec Nissan GT-R Now Available

Suffer no more Euro GT-R owners, the Cobb AccessPORT is now available for your Nissan GT-R! Thanks to the hard work and forsight by GTC-Racing based in the UK, who spent hours road and dyno testing, the AccessPORT can now be yours and features, as expected, two stages of power upgrades just as the overseas models do.
The net performance gain for each AP stage is:
Stage 1, 97 RON Fuel:
- +63 hp and +70 lbft of torque
Stage 2, 97 RON Fuel:
- +70 hp and +90 lbft of torque
So the Euro spec Cobb AccessPORT features not just those two maps but also the following purpose built maps:
- Anti Theft (security mode, car will not start)
- Valet Mode (reduces rev limit and power level, so car cannot be driven aggressively by others)
- Stock Style (normal tune with only speed limiter removed)
- Economy (maximum fuel economy mode, sacrificing performance for better fuel economy)
There are also tonnes of other extremely useful functions like:
- Re-flashes ECU through factory Data Port (OBD)
- Ability to uninstall and revert back to original (stock) ECU data
- Ability to store multiple maps on unit, allows switching between maps at user’s convenience
- Ability to read DTCs (trouble codes) from the ECU, BCM, Multi-AV, IPDM, Pre-crash Seat Belt, Meter/M&A, and Adaptive HL computers
- Ability to clear DTCs (trouble codes) from all vehicle computers including infamous “Bonnet Light”
- Ability to update reflash maps as improvements become available
- Firmware is Internet updatable (new features may be added as they become available)
All up the Cobb AccessPORT is a bargain at £750 + VAT and is available immediately through our friends at GTC-R / GTR23.com who can be contacted through their website linked below.

SouthSide Performance Solid Transmission Mounts for Nissan GT-R

SouthSide Performance Solid Transmission Mounts for Nissan GT-R

The Nissan GT-R is a potent supercar for sure, but there are some notable tweaks that could be made that some people think may elevate its status again to ultimate motorsports weapon. One motorsport in particular that’s cause for concern is drag racing since the high torque loads that this sport subjects the GT-R’s transmission to are known to cause a component or two to come under some unusual stresses.
That’s the sort of thing that the guys at SSP have been thinking of for quite some time now and to that end, they’ve designed and machined these solid transmission mounts to assist coping with the loads the GT-R’s tranny sees. These are said to go some way
These solid trans mounts are CNC machined from solid aluminum and designed to be direct fit replacements for the OE rubber and liquid filled items. These mounts are available in two packages, a stage one including four mounts that remounts the transmission alone on solid mounts and stage two, a further four mounts, that replaced the upper liquid filled transmission mounts as well. There’s eight mounts in the total package.
This modification isn’t for everyone and it may not be suitable for your daily driven street car. You’ll see (well hear really) an increase in noise and vibration in the rear as everything is now solidly linked together. For those guys tracking the car more regularly they’re worth considering.

HKS Kansai Tackle the Brake Cooling Issue

HKS Kansai Tackle the Brake Cooling Issue

Some of you who’ve spent some time getting to know the GT-R at your local race tracks may have noticed that the brakes tend to get hot. It’s not rocket science really, a big heavy car like the GT-R expects a lot from it’s brakes even if they are mammoth in size.
Nissan’s solution to brake heat issues was to throw a whole heap of money at carbon ceramic rotors and a pair of tiny air ducts in the front lip spoiler for the SpecV. HKS Kansai on the other hand have come up with a product a little more subtle and available. Simple air guides that bolt to your lower control arms and direct air towards the calipers.
Could it be this easy? Well real world results are not abundant at this stage so we’ll have to wait and see. These sell for about 39,900 yen in Japan.
Thanks to Mindlessoath for posting this over on NAGTROC.
