Best Car magazine is now reporting that there will be 3 grades of GT-R.

http://car.biglobe.ne.jp/bestcar/index.html

Base model to be 6,600,000 yen and the top model to have 7CDT50 ZF manualshift semiauto and will cost close to 8,000,000 yen.

But have to buy the magazine for more details.

Babelfish translation:

"The eyeball of Tokyo motor show of this fall, being the grade of 3 specifications in that GT-R was ascertained. The information assuming that you view "the best carp lath" of March 5th sale, already it understood immediately after that it is the grade of 1 kind. That becomes the main grade substantially, the equipment which should be surprised the mark っ is becomes the model of running. One of equipment of secret, ZF developed is called "7CDT50" somehow, it is semi AT of manual shift of large output corresponding type. As for approved rpm with the sport model private mission that, that big an important point of next term GT-R up to 9000 revolutions are possible. With that as for the running of next term GT-R in those of strange dimension. Perhaps this grade nearly 800 ten thousand Yen it makes for such equipment, vis-a-vis the BASIC model being 660 ten thousand Yen, but as for becoming the necessary item of GT where this is new you are not wrong."

If this is true I will wait for the 3rd variant to come out. The difference in price will be worth it.

I had posted this in October. It sounded like a good idea, but I guess maybe Nissan is going a different route.

QUOTE
Maybe the GT-R could have some of the previous variants, but also take a cue from the 911 Turbo range, since that model seems to be the primary target from the 911 family.

How does this sound?
GT-R=911 Turbo: The 'basic' model, if you can call it that. Call it 450hp.
GT-R V-Spec=911 Turbo S: A level up, maybe a bit more power/handling aerodynamics. Say, 480hp?
GT-R V-Spec N1=911 GT2: Won't be rwd like the 911, but will benefit from even more power and less weight to be the most sporting model. A bit over 500hp.

Im dead set on the idea, there will be different versions of it as there are different versions of the 350z. If anything, Nismo will still make them S, R, and maybe even limited Z tune models in the future. The base model won't be much different from the higher end model in terms of engine and transmission I think, but other elements of the car will. Maybe AERO or something, I don't know. Just compare the S and R tune models.

Hello !! I am glad to find this topic and hopefully I can help Japanese translation... I work in NYC and picked this magazine (called "Best Car Magazine Plus" Apr/5 issue) at Japanese bookstore only a block from my office. Sorry if my English is not perfect but at least you figure out what this magazine describes.

Nissan GT-R will debut at Tokyo Motor Show on Oct/24. Price is confirmed at 6,600,000 Yen = USD 55,932 (USD 1 = 117 Yen as of 3/16). This is much less than we expected, IT'S A BARGAIN !! laugh.gif

New GT-R is currently being tested at Nürburgring North Course since last fall and has beaten best time of Porsche 997 GT3 (7:42). The article does not list lap time of GT-R, but quicker than 7:40? For reference please see below. You can have idea of how fast new GT-R runs. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nordschleife_fastest_lap_times)

GT-R will have 3 versions - Stock, V Spec, and Evo Spec. Evo version will be sold a year after of stock debut = Oct/2008 in Japan, it will be limited production, and not sure if Evo model will be sold in US. All models has same engine spec 3.8L Twin Turbo (not 3.7L), VQ37HR 450hp 50.0kgm but Evo will have carbons all around & 2 seats (i/o 4seats) super light weight and comes with carbon disk (option). R35 will be made as the fastest production car in Nürburgring. Price: Stock USD55,932 (in Japan), V Spec USD68,376 (estimate), Evo Spec USD85,470 (estimate). Price of Evo is far below Porsche 997 GT3, around USD 120,000-130,000 range?

The pictures I list below are CG from this magazine, although they always post reliable ones. I just found this thread only allow 2MB. I post 2 pics and will attach more later. Please note a pic with fold line is Evo model. Other pic is stock.

Buy stock model or wait until Evo comes to US? I would buy stock model (I have to make deposit !!), keep it for 5-6 months until Nissan official announces Evo availability in US, sell stock with premium (the price will be higher than MSRP for first 5-6 months) and buy Evo. Or keep stock if Evo is not sold in US. It still run faster than Porsche 997 GT3 on track !!

Just joined the site, and am already pleased with the information that I'm getting -

Can't wait to see it on the showroom floor! It'd be nice to get more details about the different models and what each will sport, it would make pre-order a lot easier haha

Yes, the article says "R35 GT-R will have [2 Pedal Shift]". I believe this means paddle shift but does not say if this comes as std or option. I also found V spec will have some mods in exterior / interior only, not engine / suspension.

Besides GT-R, New Skyline Coupe (=Infinity G35 Coupe) will have 3.7L VQ37HR with 7 speed AT 350hp, this will be base engine of R35 GT-7 (3.8L 450hp).

If I have to I'll import the Evo Spec GT-R. But hopefully they will bring it over here, I am sure they will since they brought over the different variants of the Lancer Evolution. But I could be wrong.

Hello again !!

It is only 6 months away from new GT-R R35 debut and many car magazines
in Japan are competing each other for most accurate updates.

I hope this has not been posted yet, this is a translation of another Japanese car
magagine called "Car Top", May'07 issue. I will not describe all of the report since
many portions are same as Best Car which I previously posted before
(http://www.nagtroc.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=19607).

I compared these two magazines and found many updates are same as Best Car:

Debut on Oct'07 in Japan with 2 versions
'Evo" model will be avail a year after
V6 3.8L Twin Turbo VQ38HRTT
6MT & 2 Pedal Semi Auto Shifter

And these are some updates Car Top magazine is saying they are more accurate than Best Car:

480hp / 58kgm (i/o 450hp / 50.0kgm )
3 grades will be called Std, M, V (i/o Std, V, and Evo)
Prices will be Std USD57,627 (in Japan), M USD67,769 V over USD93,220(USD1 = Yen118)
(i/o Stock USD55,932, V Spec USD68,376, Evo Spec USD85,470)
M grade will be "Luxury" version - equipped with leather seats & int, high grade stereo,
softer shocks, etc
V (Evo) version will have 530hp with lighter weight by carbon seats, no rear seat,
ceramic brake rotors, 220lb lighter than Std model. 4WD system will be modified for
track use.

So these updates are more accurate than Best Car? Probably yes as this issue is newer
than Best Car 's Apr'07 issue. But many car magazines in Japan are competing to
give more accurate info now and hopefully I can help providing these in this forum ! new_newbie.gif

The seats in the top car are clearly bolstered leather compared to the barebones design in the bottom car. Two VERY different GT-Rs..I would say the top one is the M version

Yugo-kun:
Thanks for the pics and translation. Personally, the only reason I am considering the GTR is because it is an all-round sports car with 4 seats. So, if these articles are correct and the V/Evo version eliminates the rear seats, then I'll take one M/V spec in silver to go please! I would love to see this car next to my M5 in the garage!! shiftdrive.gif

I thought the seats were different, now for sure I know they are. I like the ones in the bottom more actually.

Yugo-kun, thanks a lot for the scans! That is definitely some really exciting information! Keep up the good work and get us some more!

Are the pictures of the EVO model in the Best Car article artist renderings of what the EVO model is expected to look like or are they actual photographs?

Hello !

Again I just purchased "BEST CAR MAGAZINE" latest issue (06.10.07) and found more updates.
They again reported many same stories such as debut at Tokyo Motor Show on Oct.07,
will have 3 models, etc. But I found some other interesting updates:

*Engine will be VQ38VHRTT, V6 3.8l DOHC Twin Turbo (same as previously reported), but
Hp / Torque will be more powerful : 460-480hp / 55.0-58.0kgm.

*Transmission will be 2 Pedal Twin Clutch MT (7 Speed), it is same system as DSG which Audi
& VW already use. AND NO 6 MT !! All models include base model will have Paddle Shift ONLY !
Nissan is developing 6MT but this will be for only Race version N1 (Japan Super Endurance) class.

They reported that Nissan increased hp / torque in order to secure GT-R as the fastest production
car in Nürburgring North Course (Target: faster than 7:42 - Porsche 997 GT3, 415 PS/1440 kg).
Nissan will have more tests in Nürburgring and official lap time will be announced September
before Tokyo Motor Show.

It is now only 5 months from Tokyo Motor Show and Nissan scheduled more testings. I will post
more updates when I find in magazines from Japan (next month?) laugh.gif
