in short yes a video game.

but much much more than that. this is gran turismo who have signed a huge promotional deal with nissan. the GT-R will be unveiled in the game with the TMS debut. polyphony work closely with nissan and have seen the car and this is the photorealistic renditon of the production car. the mask was added as a tease until the motorshow.

this is an exact render of the production car. you can clearly see now the differences to the production front fascia even more than the spy shots in the past.

i have a press credentials for Gran turismo site so i get the full resolution shots. these were released today and to the keen eye they are a bigger clue than anything weve seen in the last months. if you click the other link they have the proto and the production next to one another. you the difference are very apparent

It looks exactly like the most recent shots of the GTR we've already seen.

Wow GT5 will look amazing, my HD tv is waiting for it's arrival. 050.gif

yeah mine too.

the differences in the middle nose part are more clear to me in these renders than some of the spy shots ive seen especially with having the proto in the same shot

What other link?

Has to be the a first to debut a car in real life and a video game at the same time. I bet we will have some slow download times.

looking at pics of the front lights, it seems like there's another light below the projector. i wonder what its for.
also, i wonder what the inner reflector is for... maybe its a fog/hi beam light like the g35 coupes had?
seems like a step back from the bixenon headlights we have these days.

oh well , either way, i can already see the mods coming... dual hid projectors....

oh there is no other link, i merged two threads together after i posted that.

as far a downloads. right now its only for japan so you need to have a japanese account set up (easy to do)

from my understanding Oct 20th a demo comes out. OCt 24th a TMS demo comes out featuring the production GT-R and the Evo X

It looks like there are 2 vents in the lower grill opening. Wonder what these will lead to? Brakes, oil coolers..this wait is getting hard.

do you think this means the under the headlight ducts from the proto might be gone now?

I doubt it. From the spy pics you can make out ducts below the lights.
I don't think they would have them there during testing then just get rid of them.

I'm sure a majority of the middle portion is for the radiator, intercooler, fans, but it's hard to tell on the black side parts (which I dont really like in many pics) if there is a spot for brake cooling, I sure hope they address that on this car, Porsche seems to leave it out many time on the 911's because of the front/side IC's and Radiators. Brake cooling will be a must.

how about if its just indentions now similar to whats on the rear bumper above the exausts?

i liked the ducts under the lights but if these are ducts in the grill will it be 4 ducts two on each side?

If they added any more ducts on this vehicle then you can forget about aerodynamics. The GTR will inturn result in an increased amount of frontal drag. The GTR has a big enough opening upfront to begin with.
What I do see here and compared to that of the most recent pictures of the GTR leads me to believe what we see is what we will get aside from the coverings. The GTR does have a one piece FMIC and it's about 98% done exterior wise. It just would be silly for them to go to that extent of change away from what has already been tested at the ring and in US. tracks. So that's why I believe what we see is about 98% done exterior wise. Like you mentioned this is a 100% render from the actual car which adds to the legitimacy.

Also to add to that if you look above the larger opening where it's darker, it's function is to direct more ambient air to the Radiator since the lower portion see's the majority of the air for IC and braking ducts. There is no doubt in my mind when looking at the front bumper you can see the design intentions almost immediately.
You can see how more forward and pronounced the IC is, thus why we can actually see it vs. the radiator/condenser above in the dark.
