Tommy Kaira Ebbrezza-R Aero Kit Version 2 Now Available

Posted By:  Kris@GTRBlog @ Today, 01:41 AM

More updates from Tommy Kaira this week, hot on the heels of their Ebbrezza-R global product launch they’ve released pricing on the version 2 kit. This kit will feature the exact same aggressive design as the original Ebbrezza-R GT-R we got our first look at earlier in the year but will be feature key pieces fabricated in FRP to drive down the overall cost.

You may recall that Tommy Kaira have recently switched their marketing strategy up so that customers can purchase any individual piece of the kit they desire, but they also make available groups of parts in sub-kits on top of the traditional full kit.

For the Ebbrezza-R GT-R Version 2, customers will notice that the following pieces are now made from FRP:

Part Ebbrezza-R Version 1 Ebbrezza-R Version 2
Front Under Diffuser Wet Carbon FRP
Side Step Kit FRP+Wet Carbon FRP
Rear Underspoiler Wet Carbon FRP
Rear Fender Arch Extension Wet Carbon FRP
* Full parts list in our previous post or at GT-RR.com

This brings the prices for the kit down overall a healthy amount, for example, for the Front Style Kit which includes the Front Bumper, Front Under Diffuser, Front Lip Spoiler, Front Grille Cover, and Side Ducts you’ll pay just 525,000 yen. Thats down over 100,000 yen versus the version 1 kit.

The price savings grow when you look at the Full Ebbrezza-R Aero Kit though which is down to just 1,260,000 yen in Japan ($13,950 in the US). A saving of 420,000 yen versus version 1!

Combine this with the new global distribution partners and I think we’ll see a few more Tommy Kaira Ebbrezza-R GT-Rs globally shortly!

Nismo Rear Differential Cooler for Nissan GT-R Coming Soon

Posted By:  Kris@GTRBlog @ Mar 9 2010, 08:55 PM

On the circuit and even with some hard street driving, GT-R owners will know that the transmission temperature has a habit of rising quite rapidly. To compound that, on the GT-R, the transmission is integrated with the rear differential housing and because of this, heat energy is freely transferred between them.

In Nismo’s testing experience, with their Tokachi 24hrs race car and their Super Taikyu R35, cooling the rear differential has been surprisingly effective at lowering transmission temperatures. So much so that they’re now releasing their in-house developed rear differential cooler as a kit for the GT-R.

The kit features a electric oil pump, braided hoses, cooler core, and wiring harness for automatic or manual in-cabin operation. When installed it increases the diff oil capacity by 2 liters which is a help by itself.

In Nismo’s testing of the ClubSport GT-R on Sodegaura Circuit in Chiba, they were happy to see the diff oil temperature at no time exceeded 140 degrees C. Exactly what the transmission temperature was like during the testing is not known though.

The diff oil cooler is due for release in April and we will have availability details at that time.

Dynamic Autosports Hankook Gruppe-S Drift GT-R Project Update: Part IV

Posted By:  Kris@GTRBlog @ Mar 9 2010, 02:21 AM

More from the guys at Gruppe-S today. This time they’ve documented the completion of their custom transmission mount for the G-Force 4-Speed dog box. As you’d know the GT-R’s rear mounted trans-axle has absolutely nothing in common with the engine mounted G-Force tranny so you could have foresaw the problems they’d have bolting it up.

Out came the welder and with a lot of hard work and effort the guys have put the problem behind them by fabricating a heavy duty support structure that should hold up to the stresses of drifting. As a result, the transmission is officially mounted in the car in addition to the engine which was mounted up last week.

What the guys will do with the rear subframe now there’s no transmission in it is going to be the next chapter in this story I’m sure.

AMS PERFORMANCE - INSIDE OUR 1000HP GT-R

AMS PERFORMANCE - INSIDE OUR 1000HP GT-R MODIFICATION

It's been a while since we have seen a Japanese Supercar on US shores.

While we were all excited to see the new Nissan R-35 GT-R, rumors were circulating that this car was so electronically advanced that it could not be modified. Here at AMS we were intrigued by this notion and so was Chuck Hannold of the popular GT-R forum board Nagtroc. As time passed tuners including ourselves have been finding ways to improve the GT-R but Chuck was looking for something more.

Chuck established a lofty goal of 1000 horsepower while retaining the GT-R's street manners and has commissioned us here at AMS Performance to get the job done. We will be documenting the process of engineering and construction along with the difficulties of doing something never attempted before on the GT-R.

Below are the beginning stages of the build and the extensive measures needed to build a 1000hp GT-R!

Day one was as to be expected. Chuck’s injured GT-R arrived at AMS by one of our recommend covered transport carriers. The next time it gets loaded onto this carrier she will be touting over 1000 hp!

Mine's Release Pricing for Carbon Front Bumper for Nissan GT-R

Posted By:  Kris@GTRBlog @ Mar 7 2010, 12:08 AM

The GT-R’s front end is well designed for both cooling and aero purposes. It’s hard to improve on it but with enough dedication and application of sound principles and by putting a lot of thought into the design, the team at Mine’s did just that. The new Mine’s Dry Carbon Front Bumper which we debuted on GTRBlog in January is now ready and pricing has been released.

The bumper itself is priced at 890,000 yen minus the canards. The Mine’s Carbon Canard Type-II that integrate so well with the front bumper are priced separately at 160,000 yen. As a set the whole lot will be 1,050,000 yen in Japan.

On the topic of Mine’s they’ve also put together a FAQ sheet on the Mine’s power upgrades which are currently available. These upgrades aren’t factoring in the Mine’s Complete Engine or any other new power upgrades that may be in the pipeline.

These two sheets give details on what the upgrades consist of, the target power increases with a few technical details in there as well. There’s also a nicely formatted web version that is possibly easier to read.

Take a look at these sheets in the gallery below and head over to the Mine’s website to contact them if you have any more questions!
