HKS celebrates its 35th anniversary at the 08 TAS by presenting 3 high performance machines, all are AWD and were put on sale less than 6 months ago.

The Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X is one of them, the beast has been fitted with a lot of engine performance parts as the engine bay shots show...the exterior was kept pretty clean and that is the case on all 3 cars, HKS clearly focused on the motors and performances, unfortunately, no detailled specifications are there to back up this matter of fact with numbers.
The Subaru Impreza WRX STi is presented too in the very same way, this "BB Tune Concept" saw most of its modifications happen in the motor, the interior was slighty modified and now features Bride bucket seats.
King of the booth (king of the salon? king of the japanese automotive industry?) the Nissan R35 GT-R is visible in 2 versions.

For once, the star of a major tuner's booth is not a Nissan GT-R but a Toyota Supra! Not your average Supra, the only V12 powered Supra on the face of the planet, we're talking about Nagata-San's Top Secret of course.

Last year, the V12 (1GFV12) Supra was already visible at the TAS but the difference this time is that the car has been tested, its 943PS motor proved its potential at the "Nardo Over 400Km/h" Challenge on the famous Italian circuit. The Supra came back with a top speed of 370km/h (230mph)!

Behind the Supra is displayed a Nissan R35 GT-R along with another Nissan.
The GT-R has only been "light tuned" so far and produces 533PS. No wonder that Top Secret has got better plans for this monster in a near future. Let's hope we'll see all these great tuners battle for the fastest lap in Tsukuba for the Tuner Challenge!

Mine's has always been specialized in Nissan sportscars despite a couple tries on Mitsubishi Lancers (and others) some years back... as a result, it is no surprise to see a Nissan R35 GT-R and the almighty Mine's Skyline R34 GT-R on their dedicated booth.

Those who know Mine's pretty well will not be surprised either by the look of the cars, rocking a discrete livery on white body color, these machines look almost stock but are far from. The Nissan R34-GTR V-Spec N1 is equipped with AP Racing brakes, BBS rims, a carbon fiber rear wing and enough power out of its RB26 engine to shock more than one supercar on most tracks...right next to it is the first try of the tuner at the Nissan R35 GT-R, the car is almost untouched, it features modified suspensions and brakes and a prototype exhaust system which increases the power by a nice 20HP without any action on the engine or the ECU.

Let's start "light" with the superb Suzuki Swift powered by a SuperCharged engine as the livery says, unfortunately, the detailled specifications are nowhere to be found and this was true for all the vehicles displayed.

If this is true, I guess that answers my questions about getting more displacement out of the VR38. 3.8 to 4.2, cant wait to see what this car is doing. I was worried this wouldn't be possible on this engine, but looks like I worried for nothing. I am surprised to see this type of modification occuring so quicly, but happy to see it.

You're partly misunderstanding me.

I don't think every part will be like buying a part for a Ferrari. I've never maintained that.

I understand were you are coming from. Originally, it was, "everything" is going to be astronomically expensive. Now, it's the OEM only parts. I don't think anything on this car, when it comes time for the owners to pay out of their pocket for repairs is going to be near newer Ferrari prices to maintain.

I'm not upset, just had to voice my protest to your statements. Like you said, we will just agree to disagree.

I just didn't want prospective GT-R buyers browsing this website and getting scared away from ownership because of your again and again statements about maintenance costs. I still want to see this car do well in sales here, and am not interesting in spouting off rants that may or may not be true (I don't buy the Ferrari like comparison for a minute), but if taken as true, will definitely sway peoples decision about purchasing this car. Who wants to buy a Nissan that costs as much to maintain as a Ferrari?

Beyond the intake and exhaust piping I am hoping to see redeveloped engine internals. This might be sound a bit far fetched but a stroker kit might not hurt. Or even a highly pressurized ram intake system would be awesome. Just other things that take time developing.

My TAS 2008 GT-R related stash. Btw, the video quality of the DVD is pretty bad. It was included in the book/magazine sitting to the left of the DVD sleeve.

If I had a scaneer with me here in China, I would scan these for everyone. I tried taking pics and they just don't look right.

hmmm, don't know if this is a repost. But i had a chance to see the MINES parts list. They for sure listed that they will have an ECU for the GTR. They were talking about it to another person in japanese. I couldn't really pick out what they were saying but they kept on pointing to the ECU.

I also saw that they will have a CF "stock" lip. That lip on the GTR thats a different color from the body. I think they are also making the hood vents CF as well. Other things are have already been pointed out already.

I vowed never to get another handed out pamphlet, especially after going to every TAS and TMS for the
past 6-7 years now. It all ends up taking up mad space in my computer room, then it takes forever for me
to throw them away. I will only get material if I have to, if I am seriously interested on buying that product

Yep, that is also what I typically do to and this time my back paid the price as my carry on luggage back to China was a lot heavier than when I arrived in Japan. However, with the lack of anything car related, GT-R related or even english language related, I bit the bullet and carried them home.

The funny thing is at all these shows I am also refusing any handouts, but for those items shown in my posted pic, I had to ask for or pay for them. Yep, the Mines' catalogs were being sold, not given out for free.

I wish they would have a service like at SEMA, where they use to have specially made cardboard brief case type boxes that you carried around the show and stuffed all this stuff in and then at the end of the show, you tape it up, put and put an address on it and ship it home (shipping fee of course) all from the show.

Did anyone get any pictures of the cars in the parking lots? It was too wet and cold for me, but I find those cars too be really cool as those are real street driven cars owned by enthusiasts.

Where is that service at SEMA??!!! I hate lugging all of those brochures and stuff in my luggage and through the airport. The literature starts weighing a ton! I always have to bring a large luggage so that I can bring the brochures home. Man, I have to use this service next time.

Anyway back to the topic, I like the top secret look/color combo. Don't really like the black HKS one...kinda reminds me of a mustang with the vinyl placed like that. I like some of the mods here and there and I am glad that we are going to have alot of options.

Already I'm thinking the CF stock lip and a few other CF pieces, some intercooler piping, the blowoff valves, exhaust, and probably some wheels later on. I'm keeping the stock suspension, even though I like the look of the lowered cars. I just want to keep the functionality of the switch on the dash.

I thought it was just the image, but after seeing the tail lights and rear reflector I know it's not. This audio dealer has already taken the headlights apart and blackened them out.

To me, it looks like they just tinted over the lights. I like it but, wouldn't do it on my car unless the car is black.
