ok... since I will soon be taking delivery of my own GT-R, I thought it would be helpful to have a checklist of things to be sure to check/verify/whatever when picking up your car. SInce several members have now taken delivery, I would hope we can leverage their collective experience to ensure everyone who is getting their car soon can cover all the basics. Thinking stuff that has come up or been noted that may be outside the normal new car experience. A few I am thinking of...

- check mileage, should be under 50km/30miles
- make sure tires are filled to 29lbs of pressure with Nitrogen (when warmed up)
- check wheels for damage
- check paint for damage (from removal of protective film)
- check paint for excessive swirls/scratches (from detailing prep)

and so on. So, those with GT-Rs already, what would you add to this list???

--------------------
Best 1/4mile to date - 11.122 @ 126.98mph (with LC) / 11.484 @ 122.18mph (without LC)
Best VIR lap (full course) - 2:15 (est)
Highest speed attained to date - 191mph

I think your list is fairly complete. The dealer went over the entire car with me, exterior and interior. My exterior was flawless and had no paint or wheel issues. He also reviewed all electronics with me and we went on a test drive together to make sure I was comfortable with the operation of the the vehicle before I left the grounds.

There's a fair bit more you can add, including a pre-delivery issues you might want to discuss with him before it arrives:

- front plate mounted/unmounted
- make sure tow-hook is present under passenger floormat compartment
- do you want the protective film on/off at delivery
- do you want the car washed or not at delivery
- make sure all options are present that you ordered, floormats, ipod, etc
- make sure the window sticker is removed properly and included with paperwork
- make sure you have all relevant documentation/manuals/keys/DVD
- specify factory or street suspension settings before PDI occurs
- check on activation date of XM service

Just a few off the top of my head...

for any car....

get both keys, make sure all the lights work, look over the paperwork , make sure you get a reg card or temp reg card, check the A/C... have someone show you the MFD....

mileage under 40 is fine....

full tank of gas..

as for the GTR... seriously... check the rockers for scrapes and look over the paint... mainly for spots...

Make sure it has a full tank of gas and a Hans device for when you first get on the throttle :D

Then be prepared to take evasive maneuvers for people are drfiting into your lane as they stalk and take pics of you while driving home.

Should I be worried at all about 54 miles on delivery? Where did the hard and fast 30-40 come from? Is there any way to check if the car has been launched before I got it?

(I just backed into a car, since someone else backed out, and my name jumped up on the list).

And would you be worried about 54?

On a good note, it isn't 200. On a bad note, it's right at that breaking point where I am not totally pissed, but not happy with it either.

(1) It is your car. It shouldn't be on display without your blessing. The GM should call you and have a conversation as the car is arriving at the dealership.

(2) There should be some 1:1 time with the Master Technician when the car arrives to go over the vehicle, Q & A, discuss maintenance, and relay expectations of the performance ques and warranty requirements.

(3) GM should be involved and highlight key operational points of the vehicle that are needed to get you on the street and to your house. There are several manuals, but the GM or suitable 'stand-in' should be available to answer points emphasized at the Dealer GT-R track experience.

(4) Discuss suspension layout, i.e. factory track settings (camber-based) or street preference.

(5) Get comfortable with the car before you leave. Leave it in Auto. Keep on comfort suspension to optimize travel, minimize excursions > 3000 rpms for the 1st 300 miles.

Regarding item #1, since I am taking delivery from a remote dealer (almost 2hrs away), I had already made arrangements with them to display the car in the show room until I arrive to take delivery. So not drama there.

For 2-5, my dealer contact has already called (and also sent me an email) outlining basically what you said. I'm sure it will be a fun day tomorrow at the dealership going over everything. Oh, and for my $0 over MSRP deal, they are taking me to lunch too. biggrin.gif

GT-R DELIVERY CHECKLIST
- check mileage, should be under 50km/30miles
- make sure tires are filled to 29lbs of pressure with Nitrogen (when cold)
- check wheels for damage
- check paint for damage (from removal of protective film)
- check paint for excessive swirls/scratches (from detailing prep)
-check front passenger side area where bumper meets the fender for excess paint build up "bubble"
- front plate mounted or unmounted as appropriate for you
- ensure tow hook is present under passenger seat
- protective film at delivery? yes/no
- verify options ordered are included
- make sure you receive all relevant documentation (manuals, window sticker, etc)
- specify street or track suspension settings before PDI occurs
- check activation date on XM service

dropped a few that should apply to any car. Was thinking more along the line of things on the GT-R that may be in addition to the norm.

I did... been busy most of the day between picking up the car and showing it off. I am probably heading up toward Greensboro on Friday. Maybe I can leave work early and hook up with you before meeting friends (that is, if we don't get a deluge of rain from Fay).

Will post pics and impressions and more when I get caught back up on things around here...

BTW, thank you to everyone who contributed to the list for this thread!!! Helped a lot when inspecting the car today. smile.gif
