Just to let everyone know, our cars are allready pre-wired with an aux input plug. So happends, that the US-Spec cars were never installed with a video aux imput. So all i did ( the hard work) was to locate this and plug the harness into it. You can access the video screen just by pressing the AUX button on the radio intil you see it. Also once you are there if you engage the e-brake on and off you will the screen flicker. At this time you dont see anything since you dont have any feed going into it. The nav/video hack will also allow you to watch the video while driving without having to engage the e-brake. I mounted the video plug ( red/white/yellow) inside the top of the glove box next to the ipod plug. With this input, you will have the option to view any video source you want (ex. ipod w/composite cable, ps2, rear or any onboard camera system) As of right now, i placed and order for 6 plugs from the nissan dealer, and 2 have been paid for. If you go to the for sale section you will see my post for the AUX KIT.

Did you need a composite to RGB converter for the video, or did the nav take in the composite video from the iPod through a factory aux? The Aux connector takes a straight AV RCA connector coax. On the diagram Adrey showed, it's connector M104. It is viewed in the MFD as the "Aux" source, and you can adjust the aspect ratio there as well. The physical plug type there is the TH08MW-NH (Connector type TH, 8 pins, Male). Anyone wanting to make their own AV cable, just buy a standard RCA AV cable, chop off one end, then splice it onto the Female connector that matches this plug. (TH08"F"W-NH) The parts catalog for those plugs is here: http://www.nissantechmate.com/pdf/hrk.pdf However, to save you some time, the Nissan Part # for the female end is: J-48817-127 You can buy a nice pigtailed version of the connector here: http://www.nissantechmate.com/detail.aspx?id=783 Edit: Note that the site states it's a TH06 plug, but it's reallya TH08 part # And then just splice an RCA AV cable onto it The pinout for the AUX plug is this: I've attached the pin-out reading from that picture as well.

Is adding the JDM backup camera going to be a simple plug and play that will allow the camera to come on automatically when selecting reverse?

so is there an empty plug behind the radio or is there already a plug there?
Also the 8 pin plug looks like it does audio also. Is pin 1 empty? |

so is there an empty plug behind the radio or is there already a plug there? M104 connector is the AV plug, it's behind the glovebox. The plug behind the radio (M81) is for the speed sensor hack. QUOTE Also the 8 pin plug looks like it does audio also. Is pin 1 empty? Yes, it does audio. it's a full RCA AV equivalent with its Yellow (video) , White (left), Red (right) coax cable ends. The 8 pin plug has Left audio (w/ ground pin) , Right audio (w/ ground pin), Video signal (w/ ground pin) and shield. 7 pins. Pin 1 is empty. -------------------- |

So what's the difference between what you've put together and ordering the OEM AV cable itself? -------------------- |

Well, first of all you cant just go and buy a oem av cable for the gtr. They dont offer it for the US spec models. That is where i took the time to find out what part the jdm model uses. Then I was able to find the part and make the harness and its a plug and play. I dont know about you, but i rather use nissan oem parts on this mod and also looks as if it came like this from the factory. -------------------- ![]() Specialized-Performance.com (305) 431-3777 www.adrey@specialized-performance.com For sale Gtr Rear Camera Kits CLICK HERE For Sale Gtr Oem Video/Aux Harness Kits CLICK HERE For Sale Oem Nissan Led Driving Light Kit CLICK HERE HKS/GREDDY/AMUSE/MINES/HRE/VOLK/COR/ISSFORGED/ADV1/ADVAN/RECARO/BRIDE/ALPINE/MOREL/AUDISON [/i] |

ok seriously MODERATORS.
please add a section of DIY and How to's on the NAGTROC.ORG forum.... things like this are going to start rolling in and it'll be the best way to keep them organized. as time goes on, more and more people will add them, and i believe we'll all be grateful of this section when we're having trouble, say, replacing the shocks, and we need to search - with perhaps no avail, or WORSE YET, post another thread to inquire about it... thank you! by the way, brilliant job on hacking the machine... i'll pm you! -------------------- LA GRANDE TOMATE : Recoil and Reciprocation Club Inquire for details! |

You're right as far as the US dealer network not offering it. I'm just saying that the AV cable from the JDM model is the same cable, so one could buy it from an online shop that's in Japan. The price of the assembled JDM cable isn't prohibitive. -------------------- |

Anyone? Adding a rear backup camera wont be a problem its just that you would have to switch the input on the source everytime you put the car in reverse. -------------------- ![]() Specialized-Performance.com (305) 431-3777 www.adrey@specialized-performance.com For sale Gtr Rear Camera Kits CLICK HERE For Sale Gtr Oem Video/Aux Harness Kits CLICK HERE For Sale Oem Nissan Led Driving Light Kit CLICK HERE HKS/GREDDY/AMUSE/MINES/HRE/VOLK/COR/ISSFORGED/ADV1/ADVAN/RECARO/BRIDE/ALPINE/MOREL/AUDISON [/i] |
