IMHO, there are a few things that are causing the tranny failures:

Possible Causes to tranny failure
1) excessive "wheel hop" may be the cause. Imagine when things are violently vibrated, they come loose and bang!
2) the shift solenoid is failing and causing the gears to "crash" during shifts.
3) then it could be a combination of both and/or more.
4) OEM tranny fluid not keeping the gears lubricated "adequately" (from Martin's DOE)

Possible Inexpensive solution
1) "energy suspension" bushing upgrade, etc.
2) better grade solenoids
3) both are still more inexpensive than having the tranny rebuilt.
4) better tranny fluid than OEM

Are you never bored of talking about the "tranny failures"?

You act like, with a car that it properly maintained and properly driven, not abused, they are all failing. AGAIN, THIS IS NOT HAPPENING. The GT-R transmission is not made of glass and they are not spontaneously exploding. We certainly don't need another thread regarding this.

Thanks

Who said the tranny is made of glass? lmfao.gif
You two must have not read my thread! headshake.gif
Do any of you offer solutions or improvements for the GTR?
Have you two voiced your opinion to the other OP's threads regarding this topic?

I'm here to help the forum and learn from it as well! I was offering a possible inexpensive "preventative measure/idea" for the transmission, with regards to being able to use the LC more than just a "few" times without having to worry about a failure. Even though I have not used LC yet, I will not until there are improvements made to what I believe are possible causes.

It is a fact (but you're obviously unaware of) that the engine actually "twists" excessively when "loaded" and some of the differential components are less than ideal in this particular situation, for the GTR which makes 400+AWHP.

What this all means is that there is more to just upgrading the gears because of failure, which may be the "end result" of all the excess play.

Abuse, but sticky. Its sticky is all. Its a new transmission for Nissan on a production car, there are going to be issues.

i dont have to define anything. you know how violant a launch can be on a car of any type. you know that other manufactures wont warrantee 30 launchs in the first 2000miles. its no differnt with the nissan.

dont use the launch control for an extended amount of tries and make sure to change out the oil frequently, especially if you are doing lauches.

upgraded solenoids would be great.. i dont think they cause the gears to crash though.. from the experience i have when the solenoid fails the car can no longer select gears on that part of the transmission.. so far I have figured out "solenoid d" controls 1-3-5

I agree this has been overdone and I'm not convinced there is a serious tranny issue. How many confirmed non-warranted failures have there been in the US, 1 or 2? Yes, I've seen on some forums where random kids say "yeah my uncle and my friend's Dad both had their tranny go", but these are just rumors. I don't believe Mr. Oink in this very thread is a legitimate GT-R owner. If he is please give details to confirm, otherwise it's just trolls.

More details on the failure please.

Did it stop going into gear ?

Did it throw codes ?

Does the car move ?

Did you have the car serviced ?

How many miles on your car ?

Failure can take on many meanings. A code is a failure, but its not something serious. Holes in the bottom of the case are failures, however are a little more serious.

Wow, first post about this and you arent looking into a possible solution? Its a community here man, unless of course you dont actually have a transmission issue and you dont own the car.
