I dont know what happened to nissan with this Spec V...

I expect at least 100hp more and a super tranny

The problem with a "Super tranny" is the fact that the they can't handle the power. The Veyron has the same issues and the tranny in that costs $120,000. The problem is the hollow mainshaft, it flexes too much under pressure. Without dropping tons of money into it, the transaxle just won't be improved upon.

as stated above

Ok, missed that one.

What about the 7 service centers? Why is that? There is nothing that cant be serviced by the regular GT-R dealer.

Seems almost pointless (for the money). Might as well just buy a second GT-R and strip it out and prep it for the track.

I don't think it improves the shortcomings others have already mentioned, but I'm very curious what the final weight is. If they lose a couple hundred pounds, I can see a market for V-spec components. How many here would buy the back site delete if that saves a crapload of weight? I know I would.

I would keep the back seats and opt out for the CF front seats...

You CAN add both yourself. Probably get a better performing GTR in the process. Call it Spec VI cheers.gif

cobb accessport
top secret coilover conversion kit (swift springs).
Volk TE37 G2's (or enkie gtc-01's)
zele front carbon bumper (full bumper all in carbon)
carbon front hood, rear trunk, wing and carbon splitter/lip) from anyone

lets add any aftermarket muffler system... i will stick with the HKS catalizer system since its only 500,000 yen, already lighter than stock, and free'er flowing, but also legal.

i have already surpased a spec-v and i havent even got excited. thats all about $36,000 USD.

lets go bigger and get big reduction in weight. light weight aluminum coilovers with adjustable settings for street and track - reduction big time in weight and far better than the stock system, and better than any coilover conversion kit, but the loss of in dash control... i still gain better advantages with weight and stiffness gained.
36000-2895+ 8000 (ranging from 3k to 10k depends on your taste).

aftermarket anti-roll bars $1795.00

scratch the carbon ceramics for 15 to 20k for the package and get a big brake rotor kit with air ducts going to the brake's (carbon ceramic if track only, but we all want to drive it more than at the track). $5000 (about $1000 for pads, i rounded up alot) $6000

am i any where near the cost yet? were just under 50k usd now (and i keep rounding up)

lets add 20k for a full transmission upgrade.

upgraded carbon front lsd. $2495.00

additional engine and diff coolers. $3000

wheel bearings.... $2400.00

what do we come in at now? about $78000 and i rounded up alot!

whats msrp again??? im going to assume no more than 88000. my list is 1000$ more than the spec-v base price. and i rounded up (for install or whatever).

Does the V spec mean that the recommended bhp rating on a track puposed car should be 480bhp for reliability reasons?

So much for the hype train... doh.gif I could have told you that a year ago though. The only thing I'm impressed with performance wise would be the ceramic brakes, beyond that what else did they do, except for a bunch of add on crap and mediocre suspension parts??? What the hell happened to the supposed 300-400lbs of weight reduction and the extra 50-100hp from the base model? Massive fail in my book.

LOL!!!!!! Good one Chad.

One small thing I just realized: with the removal of the transmission switch mode...the V-spec cannot fall under the "Anyone, anytime, anywhere" campaign they've been advertising the R35 to be. Driving in the snow without the option to put it in "snow" mode completely negates the philosophy.

Ha! Nissan should have hired MindlessOath to help design the Spec-V for them. I would be so dissappointed if I opted to hold out and buy the Spec-V instead of the base model.

This is BS.
What the hell is Nissan doing ? 485hp is same as the 2009 standard GTR with just weight reduction and the price increased by more than 70k banghead.gif
Any pics of the car ???

I agree 100%. If these speciifcations are legit, then I have waited for nothing for this model. The aftermarket has more on offer for way less than this car. 485 horsepower? WTF! new_cussing.gif Did they mean 585 hp, and made a mistake? For $160,000 the car better have at least the 530 hp rumored as well as 200+ pounds removed, an upgraded transmission and the carbon brakes. Otherwise what is the point of paying for this model when you could buy two standard GT-R's for the same price?

2009 GT-R $78,000
Cobb Ecu $1000
HKS 570 Kit $5700
Exhaust $3200
Ohlins Suspension $5000 (always get stiffer springs in the rear in an AWD car)
Rays/Kinesis/Nismo LM 19 inch wheels $4500
Toyo R888 Tires $1400
Brake pads $400
Odessy Battery $180
Carbon Fiber Front seats $3200
Remove the rear seats NC

Labor and dyno tune $4000

Total $106,580

= Spec V Homemade edition:

600 hp
600 pound feet of torque
Curb Weight 3669 pounds

What Nissan should be giving us for around $105,000 US..... boid.gif

The carbon brakes and front seats seem to be the only major changes to the car? That will probably save 80 pounds over the stock car, and it is always good to reduce the unsprung weight. But how about beefing up the clutches and tranny, and giving us an additonal 50-100 horsepower as well for our $160,000? helpsmilie.gif
