Well, the track conditions were horrible, so never got a chance to get an accurate run in RRR. Track surface was bitter cold tonight, so VDC would come on every time, even without launching. I ended up making a run in R R off and hit 11.347 @ 120.85 mph! This is in a bone stock GTR after the ecu update on stock dunlops, with pump gas and absolutely no weight reduction! With the new ECU update, launch revs to 3000 rpms instead of 4500, which did not seem at all harsh on the car. Take off was silky smooth with absolutely no wheel hop. I recommend all 09 GTR owners get the ECU update!
This was today at No Problem Raceway in Belle Rose, Louisiana, complete time slip below. Good job to Nissan for the update and very special thanks to Gary, GTR Master Tech at Price Leblanc Nissan, for the reflash this morning and coming to the track with me. R/T .082 60' 1.690 330 4.742 1/8 7.282 mph 95.43 1000 9.479 1/4 11.347 MPH 120.85 I absolutely love this car! All you locals, see you at the next event! www.IMPORTFACEOFF.net ![]() To any magazines who read this thread, feel free to call the track owner to verify my time. It was done at No Problem Raceway in Belle Rose, Louisiana on 2/4/09 @ 6:09 pm. Pat Joffrion, No Problem Raceway owner Ph: 985-369-3692 www.NoProblemRaceway.com Also, Gary, the GTR Master Tech at Price Leblanc Nissan in Gonzales, Louisiana (ph: 225-743-8100) was also there and can verify I had the update that morning and was running on the stock dunlops. I have time slip in hand and will get it scanned as soon as possible. This time can be duplicated by any GTR under the same conditions. This post has been edited by HybridMT: Feb 6 2009, 11:31 AM |

damn... i knew it would make a huge difference Unfortunately it was done with VDC-off LC so that negates the purpose of the update. Hopefully during better conditions he can run again with a warranty-legal VDC-on LC and give us a time. -------------------- 2009 GT-R Premium Black/Black

sweeet! 1.69 short time with no launch control?
if you did this in RR off, then wouldn't that be using launch control? edit:, what were your short times in RRR? This post has been edited by FikseGTS: Feb 4 2009, 10:42 PM -------------------- |

no it still holds the 3K rpm instead of the 4500 so its still the new way. only difference was VDC wont come on if it detects wheel spin if it was warmer his time would have been the same as its only faster with VDC off when you get interference with VDC on. other than that the two methiods work identical

You get the same 3k clutch dump with VDC on or off, only difference is VDC will take away power if there is too much wheel spin, which everyone was having tonight. I'm confident similar times can be hit in RRR with better track conditions because VDC will not come on to cut power. When I launched under the sun this afternoon on the street in RRR, VDC never came on. This post has been edited by HybridMT: Feb 5 2009, 12:24 AM |

also did you notice if you stomp it hard it goes to 3.5K for a short period of time. i bet you might even improve a little if you let off the brake before it died down to 3
its funny you posted about the traction about a minute before you posted i posted this: ok guys i got some more findings for you and its a little dissapointing but not suprising.. here goes
so its 22 degrees tonight here and i thought with the cold air i would go out and see if i could knock a tenth or 2 off that 3.8 for us.... so i set up the car RRR manual and stomp it hard all the way to 3.5K and catch it befores it dies down. im off and the rear tires dont hook up on the cold pavement and VDC R goes crazy cutting my power and blowing the run. im like ok lets try it at 3K and same thing happens about a half second into the run.... out of a dozen or so of these attempts the last few days.... this was the first time VDC ever interfered with one of launches... but again its bitter cold here and traction issues are to be expected (tires were all 29PSI by the way) but i didnt think VDC R would have babysit as quick as it did so for tonight its a scratch. this weekend its gonna be 60 so i'll try again. but yeah atleast we learned tonight that it looks like nissan has the VDC to cut on at almost ANY wheel spin. so even when it warms up it might be better to launch at the 3K than the 3.5K and get VDC coming on -------------------- 2009 Black Obsidian GT-R #0278. 1.69 60ft is incredible! My car spins in 1st all the way. I can't wait to get the update now. I wonder if the Dunlops are better than the Bridgstones for drag racing?

I'd rather a 3k launch than 3500 though. Easier launches are better for the car in the long run.

Nice run!!
http://www.wallaceracing.com/0-60_equation.php 0-60mph= 2.88 seconds! WOW!! GT-R seems to like the Dunlops more than the Bridestones at the track, and at the strip. |

hybrid - nice job!
was wondering if you could try it in 'r'? basically, i found out (from watching my wife get an 11.4) that my track sucks for traction... you appear to be setting the bar for stock gt-r's. your data is always appreciated - looks like fun too... -------------------- Cobb Stage 1 v2.0
