He's going with a simple BPU upgrade using AAM actuators, mid pipe, down pipe with our custom COBB tune.

Because we are installing racing suction pipes from HKS.

When will the work be completed?

When will the work be completed?

I picked it up last night (Monday night) - but due to what we believed was the set-up it was not 100% tuned YET ..
Had been there for hours while SP was tuning it on the dyno - flash after flash trying to figure out why it would sometimes overboost ..
It was late and Being impatient and the tune unfinished I insisted on taking the GTR and bringing it back at a later date ..

Driving it back to LA although not 100% the GTR felt good compared to when I dropped it off with a mid-pipe and exhaust set up.
I did notice however that the boost seemed to be inconsistant .. sometimes boosting much harder than other times not

This happened thru out the night and the next morning so I called SP and they immediatley sent out a transport to pick up the GTR ..

So I called SP yesterday to see how it was going and I think they found out what the issue was ...
I was really upset and contacted the vendor ...

why did u tow the car?

Last time I posted pics and my opinion about the quality of a product, some members said I should've contacted the vendor first to resolve the issue before I put the info out in the open ....

http://www.nagtroc.org/forums/index.php?sh...=37051&st=0

So this time I'm going contact the vendor and express my fustration and disappointment before I put anything out there!!

Thanks SP for hanging in there with me!!
I'll have a update tomorrow.

I think you should do both(Issue and Resolution). NO vendor is perfect and its important to see how they respond. I recently got my GTR tech buddy a G37 Exhaust(I traded my stock turbos for parts) from AAM and it was missing bolts and was crooked when installed. I would of posted it but it was non GTR related so I didnt. However, AAM-Clint and Mike were all over it to try to make it right and I appreciated that. Hope it all works out for you.

I agree

tell us what was Wrong and tuners solution

Whatever it is already dont sound good, hope it gets handled tho
Clint@AAM
Along with the DPs, we sent a set of AAM actuators. The diaphragms are manufactured by Garrett. We make the brackets and rods here. There are many sets of our actuators on many Nagtroc members vehicles as well as on many international vehicles and we have not experienced any issues similar to what SPE was experiencing.

Our actuators are big, the biggest diameter and highest base pressure on the market. We want them this way so we can achieve 27+psi of boost with internal w/g actuators.

From what was described to me by SPE, one diaphragm seems to be reacting slightly slower than the other causing boost inconsistency from one bank to the other. If the one diaphragm is reacting slower than the other, one turbo will overboost. One side may have been seeing a minimum of 18psi versus the normal 15/16 base pressure. And they are built with a little bit of flexibility – the tension can be set a slightly lower or higher depending on the tension set by the adjustable nut - from what I understand this did not alleviate the issue. It is hard for me to tell because I don't have the actuators. Whatever the case may be, we will continue to help in any way until the issue is resolved. New actuators are already there for replacement.

I think there is a good possibility that the Garret diaphragm was malfunctioning – or something happened in the manufacturing process. Whatever it is, I cannot at this time explain the reason for the diaphragm malfunctioning. I'll inspect the actuator when we get it back. This would be the one and only diaphragm issue I have seen since we began using Garrett parts for the GT-R actuators.

The bottom line is that we are sorry that SPE & Blackmarkt had to deal with two different issues. One I feel was just unfortunate coincidence. Replacements were next day aired and we have taken into consideration the issues and we will be making sure to provide provisions for compensation for shop/customer. I hope to see Rob@blackmrkt out boosting on the streets soon!

^^^^^ Problems/issues will pop up every now and then, what's important, is how you react to them......it seems to me you are acting properly and changing the process to minimize any future alike issues. Good job!

Standard Garrett actuators are known for their inconsistency. For all Garrett turbos we sell to other cars, we ditched them for the HKS actuators. Much better quality.

As far as I know most Garrett USA parts were made in Mexicali. That explains everything. Turbos are good from Garrett but not their actuators.

Sorry to hear bout what happened

As promised here's an update :

To make a long story short I recently took my GTR to SP Engineering to have some parts installed and tuned.
It already had a HKS Legamax and Titek mid pipe installed - which I was happy with the sound (not too loud yet still noticeable)

I DID not want to change or modify the turbos - just wanted bolt on parts. (for now)
So based on some info and recommendations derived from NAGTROC and talking with SP I went with the following parts :

- HKS Racing Suction Intake
- HKS Spark Plug Set
- COBB AccessPort and tune
- AAM Downpipe / Actuator set
- GFB BlowOff Valves

Once all the parts came in I checked everything out and was a little disappointed with the way the downpipes appeared ..

http://www.nagtroc.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=37051

Clinton @ AAM responded quickly and shipped out another set of DP's ...
SP Engineering removed the stock DP's and actuators and replaced them with the AAM parts ...

Once parts were installed the GTR hit the dyno for tuning but experienced issues with the GTR overboosting from the jump.
Hours on the dyno went into trying to fix the issue and it was getting late and I needed to go ..
They flashed it again and I took the GTR that night and noticed the boost was 'inconsistant' at times and contacted SP the next morning.

They immediatley sent a transport to pick up my GTR and began troubleshooting once they got it ...

After removing all the parts and thru process of elimination they found one of the actuators to be the issue and contacted AAM.

AGAIN Clinton @ AAM responded quickly and sent another set of replacement actuators to SP ..
As of yesterday evening the GTR was put back together again ...
I'll post a update next week with more details and my thoughts on the entire experience.

Thanks to the whole crew @ SP Engineering for hangin' in there with me.

I think I would of spent a little more money and got the HKS 570 kit and you would of saved money on the tune with no problems. Im sure SP recommend that to start with.

man that sucks, very unusual!!
hope everything works out!!

that mod list is no where near the hks 570 kit man! he already had midpipe, he would've spent ALOT more for the hks kit

You shouldve used AMS downpipes and FORGED actuators instead - what you going to do now?
