I have recently got my AP custom tuned after the HKS intake kit and AAM downpipe installed. The tuner stated the boost was set at max 17psi but I am consistently seeing the boost over 20psi in the 2nd to 4th gear. (this is what I can monitor from GTR, it might be exact 20 or pass it but there is no way I would know). I have brought the car back to the shop, the tuner adjusted the map to lower the boost, the problem still remains. Here is my question, with all the members who has custom AP tuned. Is it required to install a boost controller to control the boost pressure so it wont over boost? I would like to know if others are doing fine with their set up (w/o boost controller) so I know what to expect to fix this problem. Thanks
here is the list of mods that I have on my car
HKS intake kit
Titek mid pipe
AAM down pipe
Titek Race ti-exhaust

I'm not sure what the problem is, could be a faulty wastegate spring.
Too answer your question, most people who run the cobb ap don't run a boost controler. The ap alone controls the boost.

Make sure your tuner has the newest tuning maps with rpm dependent boost control. If he is tuning with the old software you will fight boost spiking. The new software controls the boost much better, and makes the need for an aftermarket boost control such as a HKS EVC totally un-necessary. The tunes are also more powerful now as many parameters have changed. If he already has the newer mapping, and he can't figure out to prevent spiking then I'd get in touch with Tim Bailey @ Cobb/Surgeline Tuning and he'll be able to help you resolve. 503-670-9500

Thanks for everyone's input. I will discuss with my tuner about this with the feedbacks received and hopefully I will get the issue fixed. I dont
