Straight pipes (aka test pipes, cat deletes, race pipes) are bolt in exhaust components that omit the catalytic converters. These can significantly increase exhaust flow improving performance. On a turbo car, such as the GT-R, straight pipes help the turbos spool much quicker, thus reducing lag and increasin overall horsepower and torque output.
